About us

Our Mission

Life is a journey full of surprises, coincidences and happy occasions and sometimes it can lead you to new and unexpected paths. Let us tell you how our journey with ANNA ANIQ started…

In August 2016, Kristina traveled from Austria to Tunisia to join her friend Rym for a stay that left a lasting impression on her.
Rym introduced Kristina to the Tunisian culture, the Medina of Tunis and the authenticity and human warmth of the natives. Walking on a sunny day through the markets, Kristina fell particularly in love with the Foutas and decorative objects handmade by Tunisian artisans.
This encounter raised in Kristina and Rym the desire to create something together, that would reflect both cultures, a bold project building a bridge between two different countries: a great mix of north and south, between western minimalism and oriental opulence. This was the moment when ANNA ANIQ was born – with the name already being the first reference to this duality: ANNA, a European first name that means graceful or beautiful and ANIQ, which stands in Arabic for elegant...
The tone is set and this is the basis of our journey, working on creating and developing products you will definitely love. Join us on this adventure and enjoy it with us!

Let us introduce ourselves...

Rym

Back in 2016, I was still living there when Kristina came to visit Tunisia for the first time. Needless to say that I was really happy and proud to show her the beauty of my country and how strongly we are connected to our traditions, while modernizing what could be. Few months later, I got the chance to settle in Vienna and to get to know a different culture, open and respectful people, very quality-demanding and sustainability-oriented. There couldn’t be any better way to concretize this duality between Tunisia and Austria, than creating ANNA ANIQ together with Kristina.

Kristina

The curiosity and enthusiasm for other countries were a steady companion of mine. I love traveling to different countries and diving deeply into traditions. With Rym as an open-minded and warm Tunisian, the cultural experience was real, fascinating and overwhelming. The exploration of the traditional market Suuk in Tunis with all these great colors, artisans and spices as well as Rym’s hospitality did not leave me indifferent. Back in Vienna in 2016, we were sitting together, daydreaming of our most loved handcrafted products, which we would love our friends and family to experience as well. The idea of ANNA ANIQ emerged and so did our passion for creating beautiful products together which are loved by everyone.

I was always a fan of the oriental culture – when I first visited Tunisia I really fell in love with it. The very charming and guest friendly people, the outstanding food, the nice weather, the beautiful work of the artisans, which you can not experience in any European country, totally amazed me. So when Kristina and Rym came up with the idea of bringing the Tunisian artwork to Europe and give it a little European touch, I did not hesitate to help them to build a business and the technical basis around it.
